Chryso, part of Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals, announced the launch of EnviroAdd, a new portfolio of customized cement activators for North American customers. These advanced additives optimize the performance of blended cements, including Type IL portland-limestone cement (PLC).
“With the introduction of our groundbreaking EnviroAdd portfolio, we’re empowering the cement industry to overcome key challenges and accelerate the adoption of low-carbon concrete,” said Chryso Cement Additive Sales Director David Colby. “Extensive testing across North America has delivered outstanding results, showcasing how EnviroAdd can significantly reduce CO2 while improving performance.”
With Type IL cement specifically, strength improvements can reach up to 20-25% at one day and 15-20% at 28 days with the use of EnviroAdd activators. This creates room for process and quality optimization and further clinker reduction, including with other supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), such as fly ash, natural pozzolan, as well as calcined clay.
EnviroAdd technologies are fully customizable, offering tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of each cement producer. Key benefits include: clinker reduction, increased cement performance, improved grinding efficiency, and use of novel and local SCMs.
Chryso’s EnviroAdd is set to debut at World of Concrete 2025 in Las Vegas next month.
